Video Games No Longer Just Child’s Play
Burlington, NJ August 25, 2004 -- If you thought video games were just for the younger generation then think again. In a recent poll conducted by online video game retailer CreativeHorse.com, results showed that over 75% of purchases were made by adults over the age of 18 and under the age of 35. More than 70% of those in that age range claimed that the purchases were for themselves and not for a child or younger person.
“We have found that most of our customers are in the 18 to 35 range”, says Michael C. Podlesny, President/CEO of online video game retailer, CreativeHorse.com. Podlesny continues, “video games are becoming more involved, more detailed and more adult oriented, leaving it as no surprise that this would be the case.”
How popular has it become with adults? Some big name colleges and universities such as, The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Georgia Institute of Technology and Carnegie Mellon University are even offering some form of video game studies as courses.
With the recent and upcoming releases of such games like Doom 3, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, where violence and adult material are mainstream, it is no wonder that the 18 and over crowd flock to purchase these games.
