New Website To Focus On Culture of Video Games
INDIANAPOLIS, IN March 15, 2004--The former writers of The-Lowdown.net, the award winning video game news and reviews site, have set their sites on a new project. This time, it's a games website with a different twist.
"Before it became a retail website," explains BinaryCulture.net's editor-in-chief Kevin Sullivan, "MyVideoGames.com was, in fact, one of the only sites to focus on the culture of video games." While most gaming sites, he says, focuses on all aspects of games, MVG focused on the people who play them, and the culture they spawned.
"This is what we want to do with Binary Culture."
The official launch of the website came at Midnight on March 10th, 2004. The site features some news and reviews, but will mostly focus on editorials and feature articles, looking in-depth at "the people who make the games, and the people who play them, as they both effect each other."
Returning staff members include webdesigner Macario Reyes and former [TLN Editor-In-Chief Stephen Webster. The writing staff is comprised of a very diverse group, including a number of females. The website also features a community forum, a mailing list, and a constantly updated blog, where staff members will post random thoughts, news bites and other tidbits of gaming information.
"The blog idea came from Neil Morton, who ran MyVideoGames.com," Sullivan says, "It's a fun way for us to add content to the site and keep in contact with our readers. Generally, you never know WHAT you're going to see on there." Aside from the blog, readers can expect new content on the site every Saturday. There will also be extensive coverage of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, being held May 11-14th in Los Angeles, California.
